Theresa Mackenzie graduated from the University of Alberta in 2007 with Bachelor of Education (Elementary – Social Studies Minor) and Bachelor of Arts (Native Studies) degrees. She taught pre-school and elementary aged students before taking some time away from the classroom to stay home with her three children.  Each of her children attended Sherwood Park Kindergarten and she has been on the board each time as well as an extended year on the board.  She joined the Sherwood Park Kindergarten as staff in 2024. 

She loves watching children learn and grow, working with their strengths and interests to foster confidence and independence.  The educational experiences and teachable moments that are captured at Sherwood Park Kindergarten are truly amazing to witness and be a part of.  

Mrs. MacKenzie has experience in working with small groups and pull-out environments where individual student goals can be the focus and learners can flourish.  She values the supportive educational environments that make this model possible and allow for dynamic growth to occur.  She also enjoys incorporating goals and growth for all students into play based learning and finding learning opportunities within the classroom setting.  

She enjoys spending time with her children and family at their various sports and education events.  

She cares deeply about each student as an individual and strives to make their learning experience as successful as possible. She is honored to be a part of an amazing team and cohesive learning environment at Sherwood Park Kindergarten.
