This is a global awareness pen pal project that emerged form the "Flat Stanley" books by Jeff Brown. The students prepare a package to be sent to someone around the world and eagerly await their Flat’s return. Children then describe their project to the class as they develop public speaking and presentation skills. With the use of a globe; prepositions are also a focus as we discover the relationship of various countries in comparison to our location in Sherwood Park. It is a great way to celebrate the differences and similarities in our world. Culture and climate are discussed in a relevant manner easily understood by children.
